View attachment 65930 Here are the other vitreosil globes listed in the 1938 instruction book. Wonder what happened to G11? Here is the G10.

What is it with lamp manufacturers and ther naming/numbering systems! I think the fumes may have addled their brains from time to time!
Can someone please tell me what date this Vitreosil Glass might be and the catalogue model number if possible. What Tilleys would this glass best suit. Are these common to find new in the box unused ? Cheers Kiwi
Nice find and I don't think I have ever seen one new in the box. Seems to be the right size for a Tilley gallery so I guess it will fit on just about any lamp that normally used a 182 globe. Date I have no idea. It's not in the 1950s Vitreosil paper I posted above and from the style of packaging very likely older and Tilley were offering Vitreosil in the 1930s. Could be even older though. I have no idea just when Vitreosil was invented but these globes were all made to fit city gas type galleries and that includes the Tilley gallery which is a gas gallery size and they mostly date back to the Victorian era. ::Neil::
Thankyou Mackburner I really do appreciate all that information. It’s very interesting especially given the age of the glass. You sir are an asset to this forum. Regards Darren
