Hi all, another new-to-lanterns member here... I just picked up the three Tilleys the other day. I know a bit about the x359, but nothing about the other two. Could anyone help me out with a little further info please? I can see this is going to be an expensive hobby. I thought stoves were addictive...
@Frankarooney Welcome! On the left, Tilley X246 early 1950s; middle is X246 mid to late 1950s. Cheers Tony
I was watching those for ages and almost got them myself. You got yourself a bargain there. Well done.
Nils Of course!!! It must have been my dyslexic memory! Mid to late 1950s X246 on left; early 1950s X246 in middle. Sorry for the confusion. Tony @Nils Stephenson @Frankarooney
Thanks guys. Can anyone recommend some literature on these lanterns, their history and so forth? Is there one book (or books) that's considered essential reading?
The Tilley bible is the one in the photo below, written by an Australian, Jim Dick. You can buy it from TW Sands in Melbourne. Give them a call first to make sure it is in stock. Also, if you are a subscriber you get access to great resources in the Reference Library. Cheers Tony @Frankarooney
Cheers, I'll give them a call. I'm a subscriber to the Classic Camp Stoves forum, I don't suppose the one subscription covers both sites does it?
