I've just acquired an Eye Brand lantern from another member, @ajvuik and spent a rainy morning cleaning and fettling it. Thanks Arjan! It's my first brass Chinese P'max clone and the only one without a pre-heating torch. Being brass it was in better shape than some clones you find but the frame securing plate and pre-heating cup were both pretty rusty so I replaced them. I'll keep the originals. The chrome had flaked away in a couple of places but once buffed up it doesn't look so bad. The original pricker control knob has been replaced with an Anchor one at some point but it's a minor cosmetic problem. The chrome damage is unfortunate but I'll just have to turn it round so it doesn't show!
It loses pressure slightly so I'll make a new filler cap washer when I have a moment. Other than that, it's a reasonably well made Chinese lantern.
That looks very good, it turned out better than I thought! Good to see the lamp has found a new home. Have fun with it!
Nice looking lantern. It looks to run quite well. Well done on bringing her back to life. Cheers Pete
Eye are made in Hong Kong by Ting Kwon which is part of the Lea Hin group and they tend to be pretty good quality for a Far Eastern product. Nice capture. ::Neil::
