Getting the SL1s going on Saturday night There were three SL1s lit, and one unlit. Here are the three lit SL1s in position for the "Great SL1 Light Up": Here are the three beams from the SL1s directed at a point across the dam. Here are the three beams separated. I have to say, we all had a very enjoyable, and very informative, weekend. Thanks to all, especially our host @Anthony and the bringers of the light, @Lamp_Doctor, @ROBBO55, @Digout and other visitors and guests. Some seriously rare things there. You guys have more SL1s than we know of in the UK and an FL1 is a very rare find. I have only seen one in the flesh and that was donated to the York Railway museum so will probably never see the light of day again. In the first image there is a Crystal-Lite model 9 wall bracket lamp on the table. I have never seen one of those before and we could do with a set of images in the gallery here. What a great show and I so wish I could have been there. ::Neil::
Sadly, probably true... I volunteer at Locomotion, a sister museum of the National Railway Museum at York (but loads better, naturally!). I thought of loaning some of my railway lamps and lanterns to the museum which would have filled an empty cabinet, given the general public something railway-related to look at and freed up a bit of space around here. However, one of the museum staff told me there was no such thing as a long-term loan, only 'permanent loan' which actually meant 'permanent gift' i.e. I'd never get my items back. Items loaned can be temporarily displayed but would usually be permanently stored - that is, until someone decided more space was needed when there'd be a clear-out and items would be disposed of at will and without any reference to the original donor or thought to its future survival. As it happens, Trevor and I are going down to the NRM tomorrow for our Volunteer Christmas Dinner. I'll probably get a chance to talk with some of the curators so I'll make enquiries about the FL1. They've been on cataloguing the museum's collection for some while and it may now appear on the database - if it hasn't been disposed of already...

Man O’ man, would I have loved to be there with you lot. Is there going to be another lighting jamboree? There would have been so much knowledge, banter and just a delightful (pun intended) time.
