Morning, bit of a noddy question this, but I am a bit stumped. I've got the Coleman 639 up and running thanks to everyone's help in a separate thread.

I think the pump has unscrewed itself or something similar as there is no resistance when I depress it and it is not building up pressure. However, I cannot get the pump out of the base - looks like the collar it sits in is seized onto the base. Does it screw on or lift off, as I'm not sure how to tackle it.

    Hope I've explained it properly!

No exactly sure here... The pump should come out. It's either held in by a little clip or screws that hold it in the pump barrel. Once the screws or clip is removed the pump should pull right out.
Can't say here, for sure. Not real familiar with this model but most Coleman lanterns pumps are pretty straight forward and all are removed pretty much the same way.

On the 639 it is a spring clip. The cap can be a bit tight, just grip the extended pump stem in your fist and wiggle it out.

You could try pulling the extended pump rod out fast, pop it out. You shouldn't have any worries about breaking anything.

Thanks all, I've got it sorted. It wouldn't have dawned on me that it was a spring clip! The leather cup just needed a good soaking in some oil :)

Maybe a photo or two may help us determine what the problem is.
