This is my Anchor 909 350cp. I've never had to adjust it, I did add a coil of copper wire round the pricker rod but in truth it didn't need it. I lit it a couple of hours ago and as always it was a breeze. It never smells, it doesn't leak, it's extremely bright and economical on fuel. Besides all that it's lovely to look at and very reliable. Maybe it's a one-off but it's one of the best lanterns I own and honestly I only bought it for spares! I'll admit it's got a few pock marks because of the thin chrome plating but that's the only negative I can think of.
Sometimes the worst turns out to be the best! I've had a couple of lanterns I wrote off only to have them "come back from the grave"! I have an Anchor and I think it's a 909, not sure, it's NOS and I just can't bear to light it.
Hi folks I have an Anchor which runs like a dream although well used and abused with the chrome plating peeling from the hood. I also have a Sea Anchor which is about as much use as a three legged dicky in a sand pit! Regards Jeremy
This is bloody brilliant... I'm still chuckling as I'm writing this. But yes, my Sea Anchor must be the crappiest made lantern ever made. It works but it was assembled all wrong, it wasn't straight, the globe logo was painted on with paint and the stamped edges were so sharp I cut my fingers to ribbons just cleaning it! But... it does work!
By the way, what is a three legged dicky? After 10 minutes discussing various hilarious possibilities we're still none the wiser!!!
Anchor lanterns do work well, but I always give them a full clean and service, that way I know that they are set up to the best of my ability and I do keep them dry.
For the benefit of the non Norfolkian members of the forum, "dickey" is Norfolk dialect for a donkey...
