A very lucky find Steve and when it's fitted into a Jacobean stand, it's then called an ML-96! ML=Modern Lamp, it was a modern lamp when it was first introduced in the 1920's. https://classicpressurelamps.com/threads/1939-tilley-catalogue.1471/
This link shows the 1927 Tilley catalogue and the conversion lamp is shown there, but it's called an ML-94. https://classicpressurelamps.com/threads/1929-folder-no-1-10m.2294/
@BigStevie Nice finding, I have never seen lamp like this INDIA. @JEFF JOHNSON Beautiful explanation, Thank you
Hello ASHOK KUMAR, Tilley made the ML., tanks from the 1920's until sometime in the 1960's, so it's quite likely that some were exported to India, so happy lamp hunting.
I contacted the seller of the lamp, he tells me it belonged to his granny and always sat on the sideboard in her croft house and was used daily until the 1960s. He added that he had no memory of it being in a base or a hanger.
