Here's an Anchor 909 that I've been working on for a couple of weeks. Previous owner had painted the lower frame with some heat resistant paint...possibly to match the cream enamel lower base plate. The burner was full of crud and needed a lot of rust removal. I dismantled the upper frame to get rid of more paint. I straightened tbe vaporiser and cleaned the control rod and jet. The quick-light functions kind of ok but I had to reverse the old pip to get a seal. The cheapo glass cracked when I did a trial lighting before fettling. I risked a quality Schott chimney which I positioned on top of the little shims that the previous owner had fitted. Without the shims any non-Anchor glass is to tight once the lantern is hot and expanded. It's ok, a bit fiddly and not a patch on my Optimus 1550. Good learning exercise though. Rgds Jamie
Lookin good there @Seamanjive. Looks like you’ve done quite a bit of work on her. I hope you had a suitable beverage whilst watching the lamp’ money shot. Cheers Pete
Ha...just a cup of tea this time! It's getting pretty chilly up here in the N.Hemisphere...and with the garage door open in case of violent explosions a cold one didn't seem right. And 330pm is a bit early for a warming single malt! You're def on the right track though Pete! Have one for me!!!
@Seamanjive It’s always 5 O’clock somewhere ........ I think it’s part of some lyrics from a country and western song ..... anyway have a single malt on me, it’s heading into summer here so a nice cold one is the go. Cheers Pete
Dont rub it in Pete... in the late 80s I lived in Sydney for a couple of years, beach 9 months of the year (for a pom at least!). Still miss it... I'll take a Resches DA!!
Yep ...... definitely running like a beauty. It even looks cold there ......... nice and warm here. Cheers Pete
It is the title of a song by Alan Jackson and Jimmy Buffet, Live at Texas Stadium (2007). Probably been done by a few others as well.
@Digout Strangest thing, I heard on the local country radio station just yesterday, “and what would Jimmy Buffet do?” Cheers Pete
