Early Aladdin 1A in the Shed

I’d forgotten what a great lantern the Aladdin 1A is.

Here’s one I’ve repaired and restored for a colleague. It’s an early (not earliest) Aussie Aladdin 1A. Here fitted with a 500 cp Petromax mantle.

You have done a good job Tony, it looks good burning bright.
I have one of these in the fettling pile, it's waiting for me to figure out how to fix a burnt away mixing chamber and find a service kit

How close is the Aladdin to a Radius 119? They look about the same to me according to pictures.

The Australian-made Aladdin 1A is a close copy of the Radius 119.

Aladdin Australia imported re-branded Radius lanterns in the 1930s (Aladdin 14A; Aladdin 12A). In the 1940s Aladdin Australia began making the 1A domestically.
