Just a heads up to everyone who thought, that most common of lamps, the 'M320 green military' had millenia to go before it could attain any real value. It seems that the Chinese, Japanese and Koreans have taken quite a fancy to said model. If you have one, as many of us do 'new, old stock' then I can bare witness to this buying phenomenon. So here she is, my very special £265.00 lamp..amazing to think you could pick these up for £55 a couple of year ago lol.
Wasn't that long ago you could get these for 20 Pounds each in sealed unopened boxes, there was over 1600 at that price...
Yes new but that's not my thing, it was bought to sell even though they are an excellent and practical lamp. I had and sold two like this 8 months ago, and I wondered why the dealer was so keen to have them..it was he who told me tonight what was happening with them, I don't think he'll appreciate me spreading the word lol. Yes I didn't see them at £20 but there were a lot in the £45 - £50 bracket, as you say, new boxed.
Hmm, very nice! Are these the Brand new version also available from Base-Camp? Would be interesting to hear how they compare, performance wise, resilience of enamel top, paint etc.. Or is this old ground that's been covered already?
From what I've seen the Korean built ones are very good but I guess the purist is always going to want an authentic UK made one and that is why the price is soaring as it it. Paul...if only we knew then what we know now...
There has been a batch running on ebay recently, all fetching triple figures. Good lantern, but way too money.
@BigStevie No, you are reading the figure correctly. The last two M320's I watched on ebay went for £265 and £290 respectively in the run up to Christmas.
Folks .. I bought one of these for just over 100 last year .. as above... unused ex MOD etc .. so it is ok goodish lantern ...but I have two Bialaddin 315's mint which I must prefer , design, performance , even looks and economy , one was £45 the other £60.. absolutely stunning and ultra reliable .... I do not know why folks rave over these 320's
I bought two new boxed M320s under a year ago for what I thought was too much money, I was obviously wrong! Not that I’m complaining... Looks like I’ll be able to fund something really interesting.
Yes Stevie..you was reading it right, my M320 (new old stock dated 2003) sold yesterday for £265. My intention for this post was/is a 'heads up' as I know lots of us bought them cheap a couple of years ago. Like you say, selling a couple of these could fund something a bit more exotic and interesting, an SDR or AL21 maybe lol.
Getting great cash for that lamp .... he must have lost the plot to pay that money for it ..maybe he was half cut or deluded , war memories etc .. !.. no one in the memory of man would fork out so much for that M320 metal is not even worth it scrap value .. ... but have you got the cash ?... whatever you do... do not .. ***** I repeat do not... use ROYAL MAIL .. **** and loose all .. they will have it at their mercy and inflict much pain and suffering for you ... better off with DPD or similar... HERMES maybe .. no problems at all with either.. DPD is the best though ... nice one M8tey
