Hi Mates, As you may have seen in an earlier post: I got an incomplete Tilley AL15A, the burner head was missing and the cowl missing. Tried to get at least a replacement burner with no success, so bought a CH1 head from a fellow CPL member in Germany, a new globe from "Mike the Stove" and after a respray job (saving the original Southern Region Railway hand-written depot identification), and change of vapouriser tube, I have it working again. Cost me a fair bit to do it, but at least I have saved another lump of Tilley brass from the scrap-yard! I have kept the cowl mounting bracket and the slightly rusted and cracked micre shade in case I ever see an AL15A burner; it then could be reverted back to its orininal state. Not a perfect job, but better than in the scrap skip. Thanks for the paint match info, Ford Crystal Green is perfect. Many thanks to all who gave advice. Steve.
Hi Shed-Man a very very nice restoration indeed and a very good colour match, Hopefully you will find a AL 15A cheaply so it can be converted to its original condition but if you dont yopu still have a superb lamp and well worth the money in restoration
