Hi All! Well my 1962 Tilley X246A turned up in the post today! Very pleased with it, I bought it off Shed Man so i knew it was a good one! I has the black hood but still has the earlier detailing on it, been told by Steve this is rare as they soon got rid of the engraving. Anyway here are some pictures of it Hope you enjoy the pictures! Hi Adam very very nice indeed the older models were made and look better than the modern day stormlight. I have just got in and there is a card from the post office i beleive it is my 246 guardsman i won on the bay if it is i will show a pic of it and then i am going to give it a full restoration and add pics of it in the fettling forum

In the scheme of things, that is a modern one! Get yourself a Tilley lantern made before 1956 and see for yourself the difference in quality - a nice X246 Guardsman with the wire loops for the handle attachment. Even better, a pork-pie...

Looks really good; wish I hadn't sold it to you now! Keep collecting and most of all enjoy it when ever you can. Light it regularly and then it will run for ever. Steve.
Don't worry Steve, I will look after them, all of my lamps live in the house, I usually light them 2-3 a week. It is such a nice lamp.
Sorry i was at work at that last reply, I have got 4 Lamps now but i bet it will go up and up lol!! They all live indoors, so they are nice and warm, even though mother grunts about it lol. Anyway thank you for all of your support Steve it means alot to me, Adam
