Or is it a missmash of parts thrown together. The 246B fount has a slight leak at the base seam. I have a R-1 heater fount i would like to use. Does the fuel pick up remove from the fount by threads? Will they interchange? I included a photo of the R-1 fount. Thank you for any info. This lamp is new to me, and runs well.
Not it's the real deal. Tilley model TL120A from the mid 1960s to about 1978. Should look like this. The fuel pick up tubes are not removable from Tilley founts so for this lamp you need a tank with the male threaded centre boss and an R1 does not have that part. You are correct that it is in effect an X246B tank to which Tilley fitted a riser tube handle and gallery to create TL120A so if you can't repair the leak a spare X246B tank is the only easy way to go. Simple here in the UK but likely rather more difficult to find in the US. ::Neil::
Thank you sir. I appreciate the info. I think i will give the fount some sealer, as long as its correct. I dont have that lamp head on it, as it has the older style lamp head now. I have been wanting a lamp for a long time. It is a very small leak. More like a seepage when running. Thanks Mac
TL120A was the last table lamp Tilley made and the only model fitted with that steel gallery. It is quite possible that some early examples were sold with the older brass gallery so I would not say it's incorrect. It should be safe enough to seal the leak with Caswells or POR15 since it is a kero lamp and a minor leak is messy rather than dangerous. Looks like a nice lamp and they're not all that common. It was on sale for about 15 years but I don't think many were sold as the demand for indoor lamps had dropped by the mid 1960s and Tilley were just about the only pressure lamp manufacturer still offering a table lamp. ::Neil::
