Hi, all! Just made a pretty good find, five Coleman lantern globes! Three are marked "Coleman" on one side and "Pyrex" on the other side; two are unmarked but exactly the same size as the marked ones. The marked ones have the old Coleman logo on them. No sunshine, just Coleman in big green letters. They looked like they may have been old military stores from the war. Realize there is nothing rare about them but they are not easy to get at a "fair" price. The unmarked ones seem to be a little harder to find. I'm talking NOS here. They came in the original boxes, unopened. I know it was like buying a pig in a poke but for the price I took the gamble and it paid off. I believe these are the Pyrex globes made for Coleman from the mid-1930's to around 1946/47. Oh yeah, they fit 220/228, 237B types!
@george that is a superb haul,you have done well. Have you fitted them all yet???? (I'm not envious at all!)
Every now and then even a blind squirrel stumbles over an acorn! Got lucky this time! I wish I did have some of those early 242 Coleman globes, seem to be as rare as hen's teeth!
@Alex Smith Alex, no, I bought them for insurance in case I commit the ultimate sin and break one I already have. Over kill, I guess but I can be a real sh..-fingered fool at times and knock one to the floor!
@george I am with you on that one. I have a shelf above my work bench, and have broken at least one glass when I knocked something off. Am still waiting for a package from Canada to replace that particular "clumsy moment".
@Alex Smith yes, been there done that! I had a really nice bullseye globe for a hot blast wick lantern and was removing it from a lantern. Had it in hand and all of a sudden it slipped and bang, it hit the concrete floor in my garage! Boy, my Rottweiler at the time learned a whole new English vocabulary that day. It took almost 15 years before I found a replacement! No eBay or cell at that time. I searched like hell before I found one!
Awesome find @george One always need spares. The older we get the clumsier we seem to get. Just as well we don’t work in a munitions factory. Cheers Pete
