The hoards cleared the cupboards here as well, then raged when the shops limited their hours and instituted 8am to 10am for the elderly and at risk to shop in a freshly sanitized store to lessen there contact with the general public. The same people who hoard toilet paper think nothing of going to a movie theater or McDonalds the same day and most of them are in the lowest risk bracket. I'm just glad I've been a prepper all of my life and don't need to wait in lines for food or supplies.
People in Sweden are also drawn away by the winds of apocalypse. But no real such winds are here now.... Toiletpaper, pasta and more running out in shops, but shops can get more to refill their sticks. Regards Matti
Strange. Around my parts of Sweden everything is pretty much as it was before. Still the same amount of food in the stores. No empty shelves where the dry food is and I have not seen or heard of anyone hoarding toilet paper. Only read that this should be the case, and I suspect that this situation is vastly exxagerated.

There seem to be something with the toiletpaper. That is the first thing they hoard. Also paracetemol and ibuprofen and thermomters are out of stock. But ibuprofen seems to help the virus due to latest reports.
My old mans has just come back from a big supermarket - barely any TP or hand sanitiser. Our local mini supermarket has been fully stocked all through but are now imposing limits on whatfolk can buy quantity wise. Own brand/generic Ibubrofen supplies have been low to non existent for months here except the expensive versions - nothing to do with Corona-virus. I chew the stuff at the moment & had to resort to online.
Hello guys, now that the whole Italy has been declared as red zone we just need to stay home as much as possible. You can go out just for work, to buy medicines and for real necessity (food). Everything is stocked and there is no rush to buy food for months, we're not in war. Only the unnecessary stores are closed as well bars and restaurants. Don't be afraid, if it's working without any issue here in the south of Italy it should work without any problem everywhere in europe and US. Just stay home and enjoy your collection Nicola

I have no concern over toilet paper running out. I've not been using any for ages. While some news/rumours are somewhat exaggerated, I have a feeling that this virus is creeping up almost everywhere, steadily, perhaps silently too. And since its not exactly as deadly as the Ebola, I'd reckon that most wouldn't take drastic measures in short time. That'll usually mean it'll be more widespread and would linger around for sometime to come.
Yes, I think that is the main concern about the virus apart from its extreme danger to the elderly and those with certain pre-existing health conditions - it is so infectious so it spreads very easily. The flu continues to kill thousands, 18,000 in the US so far in their flu season yet hardly a concern is raised. My son, whom has six kids, was forced to stockpile because he couldn't count on the shops having what he needed when he needed it because hoarders are cleaning out the shops. His point is, if one of his family get the virus and they have to self quarantine in their home for 14 days - he needs a lot of supplies to feed himself, his wife, 6 kids and two dogs.
There's a lot of concern over the COVID-19 here now. The govenment has taken a more drastic action to curb the spread. A nationwide partial lockdown had just been announced. All businesses, except those pertaining to essential (food, water, electricity, defence/security, medical, etc) services, shall cease normal operations starting from 18th March till the end of the month. No public or mass gatherings including those related to any religious affairs/prayers would be allowed. Outlets and all restaurants will be barred from serving food at their premises. Only takeaways allowed. Mass Public transportation are closed. All international flights suspended. Inter-state travel restrictions was imposed earlier but lifted shortly. It could be a matter of time before that is put in force again. That'll be enforced as such until further notifications and updates from the authorities.
Corona. To sanify the pension funds. Or as doctors in emergency room say, triage. ........,............. Playground closed. Grandparents not allowed to host the kids. ....................... Preppers. The ones that get hijacked by their neighbours or marauding mob.
Toilet paper? Ever heard of a Bidet? When I lived in Asia we had a little shower head fixed to the toilet with a flexible hose, the same sort of thing you have when rinsing dishes, no one used toilet paper, and its the best way to stay hygenic and clean, Give yourself a little squirt! - Takes a little getting used to at first!!
That's about the way many around here in Asia finish up the business. If its not a bidet, just hose them clean. Toilet paper is available for the task anyway if anyone wishes to.
We have a bidet and it's great. The learning curve really isn't that steep, I mean, how hard can it be to wash your @$$!!! Anyhow we no longer care about running out of toilet paper!
Water just smear certain things around... Surely a bidé was meant for the genital area rather than the arse?
We took out the bidet when we modernised the bathroom, we thought it was pretty naff and let the dog use it as a water bowl. Who’s sorry now?

Bidets are almost non existent in Canada, so what is the accepted etiquette with the "ass" towel? Does everyone have their own? What do you do at a friends house?
As the planet sinks into mayhem we’re getting obsessed with wiping arses.... Come on folks, let’s have some constructive, helpful and reassuring comment. The UK is going into first stage of lock down tonight, there’ll be more restrictions to follow. Families are scattered around the world with the very real knowledge of not knowing when we might be together again. For us older folk, if ever again. I sincerely hope that the world emerges from this virus it will be with a new set of desires and objectives. The throw away society that seems happy to poison both itself and the planet must change, I worry for my children and grandchildren. If all this is too much to stomach, just talk about arse wiping....
Well said Steve! This has the potential to be a world changing event and although it's true that we've had the Spanish Flu and other pandemics in the past, in our modern, electronically dependent civilisation, things are actually quite different. In the past, people's lives were simpler and more connected to the land and to each other. People traveled less and didn't have access to cheap mass transportation like we do today and no-one expected to know instantly what someone thousands of miles away was doing, minute by minute. This afternoon the potential for what might happen struck me and for the first time, I felt panicked... not for long, but it was scary. You only have to look at any of the footage coming from Italy to see what might be in store for us and it's not pretty. I'm glad the government are ramping up their response but the next 3 to 6 months is going to be like nothing the world has lived through in living memory.
