Tilley No. 1560 Vapouriser (NOS)

This is a new old stock Tilley vapouriser Part No. 1560 with cleaning needle Part No. 1561. The vapouriser is for use on Tilley CS56 stoves.

















Here on left next to the standard No. 606 vapouriser.

As shown on a stove. I noticed the jet is a lot larger than a standard tilley (lamp) vaporiser.

 

Those stoves turn up now and then the double stoves are harder to find one who knows

I've measured the pricker tip of the 1561 pricker as best I could with a digital micrometer. I did it a few times to make sure I was getting consistent readings. The pricker tip is 0.28mm to 0.29mm. That makes the jet in the 1560 vapouriser for the CS56 stove about 0.30mm or a smidgin larger.

The 1560 jet easily takes a Primus pricker for a 0.23mm jet , but will not take a Primus pricker for a 0.32mm jet (I didn't try to force it).

This makes the Tilley CS56 stove jet around about, or a tiny bit smaller, than a Primus No. 1 (or 5) kerosene stove.

The jet in the Tilley No 606 vapouriser on the other hand is around 0.20mm (I measured the pricker the same way as a bove except this time I used multiple NOS prickers).

@Tony Press thats interesting to know, so it’s almost 1/3rd larger than a 606.
I noticed it straight away when let a short spray of paraffin out of the vaporiser to test it, wondered if the jet was enlarged and the vaporiser knackered, but when I lit it up it was fine, giving good flame adjustment. Finding a Tilley stove is hard so your NOS vaporiser will be rare.
