Found this on the interweb today, found it interesting. Did a forum search but could not find a reference too it so posted it here for member benefit. $AU specified. Cheers Michael
Matty, Yes this was on the Australian site. I assume GST inclusive plus postage. Site says it's rated to 3000 psi, a bit more than we need. Cheers Michael
Taylors Paraffin Burner - Graphite Packing Washer. Don't know if this is relevant to this thread, but the above mentioned stuff is from Plymouth in the UK. I'm wondering if we can get the same stuff in our wide brown land? Thanks Michael.... Matty, Tony, Pete, et al.
@Damien I think Matty is sending you some stuff including graphite. But if you are after a quantity, I have a supplier in Hobart (a machinist/manufacturer) that I’ll be visiting next week to get some specific washer making material for a job I’m halfway through (he doesn’t sell to the public). I could see if I can get some for you. I just need to know the thickness of the graphite sheet and the quantity (cm X cm) you want. Tony
Thanks Tony. I'll see how I go.... don't want to become too dependent on your generosity.... outstay my welcome and all that. I'm a bit intrigued as to how one gets the packing neatly into the packing nut whilst leaving the hole free for the fuel control shaft?
It is easy. Having a small picking tool with a right angle bend on it will be needed. One of the small screw drivers, ones that you use to tighten your glasses etc can be used. You could make up your own tool. Your packing from me will arrive next week and you can have a crack. I did Veritas today. One of the few times I need two lengths. It is a big gland nut.
