    Nice and bright.

Is it a trick of the light or is the hood a darker shade of green than the Seafoam tank ? I ask because the enamel on the hood of my example is lighter which better compliments the paler finish on the tank.

    Henry.

Stripping tanks is a personal preference.

I've never been afraid to strip a tank of its original finish and have done it a lot of times. I carefully consider the state of the finish and if the finish has mostly gone, I remove the rest.

If I owned a lamp with the finish as it is on your lamp, I would leave that paint as it is. There is far more paint than there is missing paint. I think you lamp would retain more worth with the original paint on it than if it was removed.

Again, it is your lamp and you may do with it as you see fit. By removing the paint, you aren't doing anything to the lamp that can't be undone and I think that is important to note.

Lee, I have bought a few lamps of late but they won't be of much interest to many collectors. I also have 50 or 60 lamps in a queue to fettle.

I bought this yesterday. I have a few of this type of lamp but I haven't seen this type of burner on them before. It is going to be a challenge working out that burner if I can't get it identified.

Lee, that is what I like about the lamp. It is going to be a challenge. The lamp is photographed backwards. The following photograph may be helpful.

They kinda look pretty cool and being of a different shape and type they enhance a collection visually I think.

I'm glad you decided not to repaint it. My eyes are not good so I'm not sure but I think this is Coleman Canada made. Seafoam green shows up quite often on these.
    Really nice 249!

Yes, that's a Canadian seafoam 249 (rare enough), but it also has the seafoam painted collar which makes it a truly rare bear! The seafoam paint was pretty fragile on these so your lantern is a real gem! It is your lantern, but please don't ever repaint it. It looks righteous as is.

I've found all seafoam collar 242B's, 247's, 236's, and 237's, but never a 249. The scarcest of them all. Me jealous!

    Congrats on a great find,

    Mike.

that dark green vent was probably original. I actually sort of like it. My seafoam 236 has a dark green vent.
