Hi, I'm new to this forum and to collecting Coleman lanterns. Need some info on these Quick-lites. What year were they made. Which of the mica globes are correct for these models. Thanks
The black hood is April 1928 and the Forrest Service April 1933. I don't think that black hood is correct. After about 1927 these lamps had green hoods. In fact looking at the bail on that quick lite I reckon that is L227 with the correct hood missing. I assume there is a fitted pump oposite the filler cap. That is a nice rare one but wants a wide green top. I can't remember where that reflector mica globe was used, maybe it was an option to give some directional reflection. I believe both these lamps would have been issued with the two globes on the right in your image. I might be wrong but one of the guys here will know. ::Neil::
Stolen from a Coleman collectors' forum: Ya , the diferece between a 327 and a 427 is only the 427 has a built in pump 327 uses a hand pump , the rest is the same basicly , anyways first go look at LQ327 mica at OCP and that is the one with the built in reflector i was talking about before you decide . i have a few cut down vents as originals are usualy beat up . they was a LOT OF VERIATION in all this green stuff . but this is kinda why its best to keep it as original with a bit of charactor .
