I finally found and visited a plating shop today. I talked to the owner, and he gave me a quote of $60 (U.S.) to nickel plate a reflector if I brought it to him with the speculum plating removed and the copper polished. It would cost more to have a chromium over-plate added on top of the nickel (which sounded like it had to be there.)

Does this sound right? The price probably doesn't transfer well over the ocean, but I share it for reference.

    Hi Al,

I received a quote from these guys here a while back to re-plate an FL6 reflector which is approx. the same size, just a bit deeper.
These folks do a triple plating: copper, then nickel, then chrome. The quote was for $100.00 based on a picture sent by email with no prep work required on my end.

At the time I did not realize that the reflector base metal was copper, so this should save a step (and maybe $$).
I intend to bring down some actual R55 and FL6 reflectors and some wire guards for an actual quote.

I'll let you know what they quote.
