This is the 8319 I've been working on. These are photos of it in use lighting my pasta dinner cooking. Big pot of rigatoni and the Italian sausage sizzling away on my PreWay Auto Cook Kit number 9. CCS Link It was dead calm so no need for the windscreen. Came out beautifully. Definitely had plenty of light. After this, I re-installed the stock generator.Milspec Generator Fettle Were these lanterns really expensive when they were in production? Otherwise, I can't understand why they weren't more prevalent. Mike
They were expensive. In 1959 Kamplite IL12 which is this inverted lantern was $13.95 at the same time the other Kamplitelanterns were LRL22 $9.50 LRL42 $10.92 and RL33 $9.55 ::Neil::
I remember a paper on the history of these inverted lanterns that I read years ago. I think it was a collaboration that included Neil Terry Marsh and Bob? It was a while ago and I now can't find it anywhere. Help? Apologies if I missed or incorrectly named the authors. I'm trying to find out as much as possible about the history of these and the difference between models as well as to acquire digital copies of the parts and instruction manuals. Thanks PS I feel like Homer Simpson, fixated on donuts!
Not written by me. Probably Terry. I know he has a prototype made by Aladdin and I think he may well have done a paper on them. I don't appear to have a copy of whatever he wrote though. ::Neil::
I see two of these online now, and I'll have to add Kamplite to my search list... Friends, it appears that I have a growing lantern addiction...
I've got a Kamplite and a Thermos inverted. Both with original globes. I've occasionally wondered how much it would be to have a run of replacement globes made (say 50 or so)...
Will any of these fit or are they all too large? http://hytta.de/zubehoer/Glasglocken-fuer-Haengelampen,435.htm
Yes No 135 is the right fitter size although it is a longer globe so might just show below the cage in a Thermos. I know it fits as my Globe do- nut came with a Thermos globe and I replaced it with a 135 from Stuga. Pefect fit. ::Neil::
