I was discarding a Tilley X246B August 1968 fount today where the base was ever so proud of the rim so that the lantern rotated easily on the fount. I had to cut it open as I was salvaging the two fittings and I was surprised at the uniformity of the damage. I know these sort of images have been seen before, but I thought it might be a prudent reminder for newer members of the dangers of founts that are flush with the rim and why they should be destroyed or kept as a shelf queen and never used. The brass was recycled. Thanks A close up too.
Cobble up the 'beyond repair' parts together to become a lamp. poke a hole in the tank (so nobody will wanna fill it up with fuel again)… sell them as 'for electrification only'. Its sacriledge but I rather give a second easier life and be a lamp again.
