Complete, with the alloy exhaust block and the correct guard, but with some jobs to do. ‘Worst first’ is my general rule for fettling and it was an unsuitable exhaust pipe - a piece of copper 15mm plumbing pipe. A bodge that evidently worked, but a push fit into the burner left it prone to pop out at any time. My good fortune it didn’t, and in the process lose the aluminium block a push fit on it. Lead soldering the copper pipe to the burner was a no-no (burner temperature would melt the solder). The temperature for ‘hard’ soldering (silbrazing) would melt the copper pipe. Solution was to silbraze a brass tube in its place. Alloy exhaust block a push fit on it. Good to have the distinctive priming cup. This was my home-made take on it for THIS later model bowl fire. I’ll post on the rest of the project as I progress. John
Silver-flo 55 rods coated with flux - which I prefer for the convenience of not having to make up a flux solution beforehand. 630-660 degrees C melt apparently. In terms of the melting point of the braze metal and the margin of safety for repairs to stove/lamp burner components, over on CCS I conducted a series of experiments with a thermal imaging camera to determine temperatures reached by a variety of stove burners. Here is the result for a Coleman Handy Gas Plant, 435 degrees C at the hottest point.

Strictly speaking, the blue flamelets themselves will be cooler because they're unburnt gas/vapour. Maximum temperature will be in the area surrounding the blue flamelets where the gas/vapour is actually burning i.e. an exothermic reaction. Remember your 1st year Science lesson on the Bunsen burner...
That’s right. It figures, a silbrazed jointed piece of metal held in that flame wouldn’t part, though it would get red hot. In the direct flame of this large Optimus paraffin blowlamp, it’d melt (764C).
