Hi, not posted or been on here for a few years but I got a new toy.
€100! The seller said he didn't know how to get it working so was selling it on. It's a 1962 German army edition paraffin lamp. Ten minutes on the bench, clean paraffin and a new mantle and away it went. Normally these on ebay with the original case go upwards of €200! It even has the original ABUS lock with two keys and accessories.
I'll be giving it a good clean up but at the moment she's running fine and holding pressure and give a nice steady light.

Thanks, Jeff! It was indeed. She's been running for over an hour now faultlessly.
In case people aren't aware, it's a Petromax HK 500 to German army spec so the main difference is non reflective (matt) finish and the green metal case with sprung support.

In condition they are available at 150-200 Euro. And these Geniol/ Petromax exArmy lamps are of a way better quality than current Petromax 500..

These German army Petromax lanterns are way better than the new ones because they were "Made in Germany"! The new ones are not!

Amazing how quickly they went up in value, luckily I managed to get hold of a few!

So it says 1953 on it. Is that a real date or means something else?
