Whilst searching about for some clear medium sized globes for my Austramax's stumbled across these. Companion brand 60% frosted 40% clear and thought I would give them a try. Put one on a 249 Scout (same size as the Austramax) and quite pleased with the result. A nice soft bright not glaring light which would be good for the dinner table or a workshop bench. With sufficient visibility to see the priming pan for pre heating. I have not seen these types of globes before, new to me.
@Walkop I have seen the frosted and half frosted cylindrical glass on LP gas lanterns (as the box says) and sometimes on a liquid fuel pressure lantern, but that ratio of frost to clear I have not seen before. I like it! Cheers Tony
I had one or two Optimus globes that were like that... played hell trying to see when the meths burned down but other than that they were pretty neat globes.
Second thought better check again, they may have been simply all frosted, not half. Brain is becoming frosted....
@Walkop Where did you find these Companion brand glass. I'd be interested in getting a couple of them. Cheers, Norman
@Norman , the ebay seller is in Australia and goes under the name of budgetcamping. Has only one left.
