Hi all. Got hold of a Petromax 821. Never fired so carefully placed on the shelf. It is stamped 2703. As I understand the coding is wwyd (week, week, year, day) for production date. Am I correct? But what is year 0? Guess it would not be the year of the big bang, but other than that? 1960? 1970? or else?
I think the 4-digit stamped date coding is only applicable for the 60s. Those from the 70s might have a different meaning which I couldn't recall exactly what.
2703 = first two digits are the week of the year, the year is 1960, and the 3 is the day of the week (Wednesday).
In 1960 there were no 4-digit embossed numbers. The change from scratched numbers to the 4-digit code of the sixties took place according my observation in February 1961.The code of the sixties also applies to 1970. 2703 is week 27,1970,Wednesday. Regards Reinhard
