It seems a bit previous to me, but I got my booking form for this event in the post just yesterday. It's on 5th - 7th October 2012 at Ashover Show Ground, near Chesterfield, Derbyshire. Camping etc. will be available from 2pm on the Wednesday (3rd) We had a great time last year () and if you're interested in lamps and lanterns, tractors, stationary engines, vintage vehicles such as cars and trucks etc. it's the place to be...
Probably something to do with the fog, torrential rain and low cloud which usually veils the site during this event...
Which booking form do you have to fill in if you want to camp and display your lamp collection? I can't see an appropriate one on the site.
Hi Matthew check this website http://vintagefestivaloflight.org.uk/index.htm for any forms or PM stan the engine man on this site for details be good to see you there cheers pete
Hi Pete, thanks for the reply. It was that website I was looking at, I see booking forms for: Exhibitors, Camping, Craft tent and Stalls. Well I imagine it is the exhibitors one but that seems more for vehicles. Which one do you fill in? By the way, I got the caravan out today. It hasn't seen daylight for going on ten years but she rolled out and after a bit of a wash down looked alright. So i'm ready for Newark next month at least. Might I see you there?
Hi Matthew i should think its the exibitors form i have never filled one in tho Stan the engine man on this site usually sorts it out for us on here he helps run the tractor club there best for you to send him a pm he,s a good bloke. Yes i intend to be at newark next month hoping to have a longer stay this year maybe go thurs or friday and like you intend to drag my new caravan down to kip in always been tents before so a bit of luxury now i am getting on a bit only a bit tho!!! cheers pete
Yowzah! - that's a bit of a trek for you, Ray. It was a great do last year. Highlight for me was helping the chappie fire-up his 27 litre Rolls-Royce Meteor engine (similar to a Merlin). Now that's what I call a stationary engine! He asked for a volunteer so everyone in front of me was swept aside or trampled over in my rush to get there. Mind you, it was a bit of an anti-climax really - I just had to twiddle a little handle on an auxiliary magneto and it burst into life in a nanosecond. Bloody loud, though - and the flames coming out of the stub exhausts...
Cooool !! Let's hope he's there again this year ! My sort of thing, big engines You bringing yours ? Best I get myself (and my tent) booked in then aye !
