I've been well and truly hooked by you lot on here! Not satisfied by luring me into the world of pressure lanterns, I've now started on table lamps as well! I've just this morning picked up a TL106 from the sorting office, in reasonable order, but missing the globe. I'd already been to see Harry at Parafinalia in the week, who kindly sorted me out with a genuine Tilley globe, but I'm a little stumped how to affix it to the lamp as the gallery bolts are missing. Aside from Base Camp, can anyone point me in the right direction of the size and thread of the bolt? I'm assuming it's something like a 6BA, or similar. Also, how exactly does the globe fit to the gallery? Sorry for the thousand questions, but you guys have only yourselves to blame!!
Well, what you need appear on eBay from time-to-time and are generally referred to as gallery pins and springs. These are re-manufactured and work well. On the other hand, I know of at least one member here who sells originals. I'll send you a PT...
Since you ask the pins are 4BA and you also need the three springs. I think Base Camp have those as well though. I have made springs before now but it is complex to do and I think in future I would probably just buy them although there is a certain satisfaction in creating a working part from scratch. ::Neil::

Sorry, forgot to answer this bit. The three pins sit in the narrow globe neck just beneath the top rim. Pulling the three pins outwards against the springs allows the globe to be removed. You don't actually need three hands because it's usually sufficient to pull back one spring and tilt that side of the globe 'down' and then away. Try doing it with the gallery inverted which is probably easier and safer. A bit fiddly at first but you'll soon get 'the knack' of it - particularly if you drop the globe the first time!
