1954 Primus 1084 S

A while ago I found this Primus lantern from 1954, I thought I would share some pictures of it. The top is not in the same condition as Nils lantern here, but instead has a reflector as an nice accessory

 

Looks very pretty Oskar - I would be very happy to have one as nice as that.

 

That looks pretty good to me. Well done on finding a not so common lantern. You could probably get a bit more of the old soot off the enamel with 0000 steel wool and dishwashing liquid.

You do know that the reflector isn't from Primus.

Thanks for the tip with the soot on top Nils. Regarding the reflector, I had no idea that it was not from Primus, it came with the purchase of the lamp so I assumed it was a primus product. Do you possibly know where this reflector comes from?

 

The reflector looks like the ones that you could buy for an Anchor lantern. It's at least from one of the more modern Chinese brands. I havn't seen them available for some time now though. They were quite popular because of the colour and it is a good match for the Primus. In the catalogues, it uses the same reflector as for the 1020 (part number 1727). That would be with a green top, which is not as aesthetically pleasing.

 

Looks like the reflector you get with later, cheaper lanterns.
My Anchor lantern has a shade that look pretty much exactly the same as yours.

Always just as interesting to ask a question on this forum. I humbly thank you for the answer and clarification for the origin of this blue reflector.

Personally, I prefer aesthetically anyway, the newer non-original reflector

 

Congratulations Oskar Hazelius . It's a fine looking lantern and the blue reflector does look good.
