Tilley PL53

    I picked these two up last month, I’m guessing mid 30s. Did the earlier PL53 model have the riser tube under the control cock ?

    Yeah, nice early ones with the coiled handles, getting harder to find those

    As far as I know the 1920's PLs., did not have a riser tube.

    This is going to be a hard one to give an accurate answer to.
    The pictures in the catalogues are not much help.

    I have been looking into this but I don’t have my notes with me.

    I see I’ve been dropped in it by @Anthony...

    Darren raises an interesting question here, about the presence or absence of a fuel riser on the PLs. Anthony and I have been pondering this question and it’s hard to get an clear picture of what the pattern is (and why).

    [I note that my EX 93 has a riser, and it’s the only one I’ve seen with the riser].

    I think I’ll start a new thread “Does Your PL53 have a riser?”

    In my opinion, Tilley started using riser tubes on the PLs., around 1930.
