    Hello, new to the forum.
Here is my recently acquired gold finish X246A lamp from I believe January 1963.
Still in the original box that it was despatched to a hardware factors in London.
I hope to service it and then it can go with my repainted X246B. B0A0145A-566B-4597-B76B-225E267B2EE8.jpeg 8E30E92E-9AAE-48F1-8781-DDFF3D121B24.jpeg

Hi @AllanI - welcome to the board.
Congrats on a great find - it does look nearly if not new - if you give it a wash in soapy water the pictures will go well in the reference section.

The manual came with it but I think a new meths burner will be required ! 473C1C0C-203F-4984-BC01-782FCDF41B13.jpeg 350E49B1-5654-4F23-B4E6-A0D3A7F69CDA.jpeg

Yep, that's what happens when you leave the priming torch in the meths bottle - as no doubt many have found to their cost!

The lid had at one time a paper gasket in it; if they left meths in the jar then it’ll be a bit of work to get it off.

Look after your Tilley 171 glass. It’s older than your lamp and well worth preserving.

    Cheers

I found out many years ago the hard way, don’t leave the lighting torch in a full bottle of meths!

    Welcome aboard!
