I’m intrigued by the look of the Petromax parabolic reflectors and am assuming that they might also fit an Anchor lantern? However, I can’t find any images or video online of one in use so just wondered how much of a “beam” of light they produce, and whether anyone here uses one.
Hey. Is this what you mean. They are not used that much in Denmark anymore. In the past, they were used when when looking for eels at night, the military used them as well. I have several new reflectors in stock. They are used on Petromax, Optimus and other Petromax clones. The reflector sends the light in a certain direction. Tom
I think that they are one of those things that you "just gotta have" but then never really use it... but a valid part of a collection nonetheless.
Yeah, I’d really like one but I don’t know how much use it would get! I like the idea of turning the lantern into a bright searchlight for walking along country lanes in the dark.
Get one of these: LT1-LT2-LT3 - also if you look at LT3 you might be inspired to do something similar for yours..
They reflect a part of the light in a sort of a beam, as is visible in this photo of @Tom Pedersen You can clearly see the white light spot on the door. Here is a picture with 4x Petromax 828 (350CP) The 2 on the outer left and right have a new old stock parabolic reflector from the Danish Civil Defense. The inner 2 have no reflector. Lanterns with the reflector added, throw more light in one direction, a focused floodlight. They are nice additions and easy to install/remove. I wish had had purchased more back then as they were dirt cheap, the new ones are over €30,00…
Excellent! I can see the difference in the light they’re each throwing out. They look like a really useful thing to have. Addnature have them for around £30 including P&P
@DarkDave Or here. Sidereflektor for Petromax lampe. 50 dkk or gbp 5.77. You can call them regarding shipping. Tom
Well, I did eventually get one. Petromax still post to the UK at a reasonable rate so I bought one direct from them. I really like it! It certainly doesn’t focus the light into a tight beam, but it does a great job of concentrating the light output onto one side. Plus it looks cool. I’m hoping to take it out for a night walk and see how good it is for lighting the path ahead.
