Hello ..., the Vapalux 300x (and of course the E 41) is one of my favorite lamps. I have them restored and as I found them, with the pressure nipple and without, with brass base and with the one made in metal. There must still be thousands in England, and I'm wondering: Why does nobody produce a glass globe with the hole in it?? I found a little company in Germany for producing them - should I do it or shouldn't I? Would there be a big request ? What is your opinion? best, Albrecht lamp-fever.com
The original globes are now very scarce so I imagine there are quite a few collectors who would like a correct-looking globe for their lanterns - but it will come down to cost, including postage and packing. If you go ahead with this, my feeling would be that it should be easy to distinguish the reproductions from the originals...
I had been told the production had been stopped because of many losses when the workers tried to drill the holes ??
Yes, that's what I heard, Michel. But with modern glass, modern tools and modern technology, production might be easier, quicker and with fewer breakages...
I started the production - for the beging 20 globes with the hole. Let's see what will happen. I will keep 10 for my lamps and the other 10 I will put on ebay for people who are looking for them.
Hello, I'm new here, just to indicate: dimensions of the globe E41 Height 12,3 cms and D 9,8 cms friendly Janie
Hello Albrecht, Blessings from Ireland. How are you getting on with the glass globes? I would be interested in a couple for my Vapalux 300 and now hopefully my 300X lamps. Good luck with it. I really enjoy restoring old lamps and stoves, I have 4 lamps and 3 stoves but in the 2 years or so I have been involved with lamps and stoves I have seen the prices go from a bit too much for what it is, to complete insanity. I have given up looking for any new items, both lamps and stoves, because of the prices. it is not justifiable.
Hello Plantpot, Yes the prices are going too high for sure. Hopefully you can still find some lamps and stoves at a reasonable price. Kind regards, Fiona
Nice lamp Fiona but you could surely find some cheaper and closer to home. There are still lots rusting away in sheds and barns.
Thank you Jean, not so easy I think. Easier said than done!! People nowadays want everything and are driving up the cost of living. I searched on a google search for Ireland and didn't find much. Abundance, joy and love and all is well. Living simply too and being generous and kind as best I can. Happy weekend, Kind regards, Fiona
This is a thread trickling along, but to return to the first posting, I wonder why @Albrecht brought up the holes in glasses, while showing a rare, and very early couple of Vapalux 300X 's that never were supplied with such glass. Through the years ideas of making a new batch of glass, like the fish bowls for some indoor swedish lamps, came and went. Probabely with cost as an obstacle. The higher prices of lamps on todays market could be a positive motivation to go ahead with such plans, as long as nobody expects to make any money, just playing even at least. Some new glass from Korea suggest a few such initiatives, but how succesfull that is, is up for conjecture.
