I see from the P&J that Drew Pritchard the bargain hunter (sorry, meant salvage hunter!) is heading to Scotland and is looking for interesting items and locations. Maybe I’ll invite him to check out my pig hoosie, there’s bound to be a wee gem amongst the dented, rusty and leaking lamps in there. Or perhaps I could invite him indoors to look at my 2xFS1s with a view to electrifying them. With all the work needed to do that of course he probably wouldn’t feel he could offer me very much. Anyone else giving him a call?

Good grief, not Mr.Pritchard! Did you see what he did to the petromax doughnut lamps? He often talks about folk ruining the originality of this or that, except of course pressure lamps that he gladly electrocutes for his perceived profit. Bah!
Don't forget the, what I think, was a very rare alcohol vapour table lamp. It even was in the intro of some episodes.
Glow in the dark, huh? I hate to see any pressure lanterns/lamps electrocuted. I see red! If the item is beyond repair and you still want to save it, okay, electrocute it, but not a good serviceable one! Damn!

It certainly is... but if you search on YouTube for Tilley restoration you'll need a stiff drink and a strong stomach! Some of the videos you'll find are like tiny horror movies!
I’d say we need to post more working lamps and true restorations to YouTube, but that will also bring attention to the lamps and we all know what that will cause.
For me that means you take a non-working lamp that's been left to fester and rust, disassemble it, fit new seals, repair anything that's been buggered and get it working again. Some may choose to repaint the tank if it's in a state, some might prefer to leave the patina but either way it gets a new lease of life without doing irreparable damage. Having said that, I'm fully aware that having recently LED-ified a collection of parts that couldn't be saved and created an electric Bialaddin 315, you could argue that what I did was no different to what they do on Salvage Hunter but I would disagree obviously. Here it is again... just because I'm rather proud of it!
I was thinking more along the lines of taking a lamp back from an electrification and putting it back on liquid fuel. With a running commentary on the safe usage of said lamp. But, a simple cleaning, resealing and operational test would be nice also. There are a few already but I would like to see more and with different brands of lamps.
