Petromax lantern help

Ive got a 1960s petromax 826/500 lantern and bought a new seal kit for it, but I'm struggling to work out where the parts go!
One at a time for now, but how do i pull this apart to change the little brass part i was given?

 

Looks like the NRV (non-return valve). That’s in the tank where the pump is located.

 

Thats it, sorry, i found that out having looked at the very crap exploded view i have, but i cant work out how its meant to come apart

 

Please take a photo from the bottom of the valve. It looks like this one is an unserviceable nrv.
The serviceable nrvs have a large slot on the top site to hold it with a large screwdriver and a small slot at the bottom end for a smaller screwdriver:


But I think you got one of the shorter pressed valves.

Yep, looks short and no slot in the narrow end

 

Yes, this is one of the so called unserviceable valves.
There are people who opened the bottom end by widening the opening and then pulled out spring and pip... So, yes it is do-able.
But I'd just get a replacement valve.

Thanks all, I've no reason to think the valve is knackered, so I'm just replacing the washer for now.
Rapid burner thing is next, that pic above of the parts was a great help if theres more?

 

Ok, rapid burner done i think, looking at assy 115, but how do i get to the lead washer No 80?

 

On my breakdown the lead washer is part 90; it is the same washer that they use for the rapid preheater.

Only remove it if it’s leaking or if you need to work on the valve at the bottom of the fuel pickup. These lead seals are designed to be used once and when compressed they deform to make a seal.

Replacing the seal below section 115, the main vaporizer assembly; will require a complete disassembly of the lamp. It’s not a big job, remove the hood and burner assembly; place it safely out of the way as most use a ceramic burner. Loosen and remove the screw that holds the base plate, preheat cup and the burner cage.

You can now remove the vaporizer as one piece to replace the seal; oftentimes the valve wheel will hit the rapid so you may need to remove that also. Getting it back into the correct clocked position may take a try or two; in order to get the cage to line up correctly.

You can disassemble the vaporizer assembly but the rod is adjustable in length to set the needle; and if it’s correct then there is no reason to take a chance on getting it out of adjustment.

 

There are two different lead washers used in the Petromax lanterns. #83 for the check valve (small one) and #90 (a little bigger) for the vaporiser and the rapid pre heater.

Thanks all, think i have it back together ok, but i found this washer, although not sure if its even off the lamp? I live on a narrowboat, so I've got crap everywhere

 

Hi @Paulf and sorry to laff but helped out at a boatyard for a little while and remember bashing my head a lot.. room at a premium and all that

Post the size of the washer?
Hole size and outer diameter

 

I don't think its part of the lamp if everything's original.
