I’m putting in an order for a job lot of glasses (=globes = chimneys) suitable for many of the Australian-made Gloria lanterns.

The glass is ~115mm tall, with an outside diameter of ~104mm, and an inside diameter of ~99.5mm.

They easily fit the Gloria 100,

    and this style of Gloria:

They are a fractionally too wide for the base plate on the Gloria 379, and a bit too wide for the Collins Bros, I have.

I’m investigating if I can get a scientific glass blower to shrink one end a bit on some of them.

In the meantime let me know if you want the glass as described above and I’ll make a bulk order.

    Cheers

    Tony

It’s straight sided. I’ll see if it fits my only early unfettled Handi.

There are some repro Handi glasses for sale if you need some.

It is a bit less than 1mm wider (OD) at the ends than the repro Handi glass I have, and it is just too wide to sit in the base plate of my early Handi Kero-Pet.

OK. It might have been an option for an alternative. The aim is to find a glass that is a reasonable price that can be used on the Handi when it needs to be used.

Would not mind a spare Handi globe, in terror every time I light mine that the globe will crack. Main reason it rarely gets lit.

Good project; congratulations. I'm of the view that folk that don't seize these type of opportunities often later come to regret it.

I'm in for 3 subject to price of course.

    Regards

    Iain

I have not had much luck finding Gloria lanterns (have two that need work...one is a basket case) but am hopeful that will change in the future.
I am in for four subject to price as well. Is a scientific glass blower/maker producing these? If so what other diameters are available?
    Kindest regards Peter

    @peterthevet

The glasses I’m getting are factory-made in Japan. The dimensions are as above in the first post. They fit the Glorias shown above.

No other dimensions are available from this source.

I’m looking to see whether I can find a glass blower to turn one end in on a few of these so that they’ll fit a Collins Bros. If they can fit a Collins Bros, they’ll also fit the Gloria 379.

    Cheers

    Tony

I’ve made contact with the supplier, and should be able to set a price per glass by the end of the week.

My apologies for taking so long to get back to you.

Unfortunately I could only get a limited number this time around, and they’ll take a while to arrive. The door is open for a larger order, but I don’t know when.

So, here’s my plan. I will wait for the order to arrive. I will test each glass against different models of Gloria (and the Collins Bros) to see they fit, then I will go back to each of you in order of who signed up first to see if you still want one.

    Stay tuned.

    Tony

‘Yes, that is true. The delay due to lack of planes is slowing deliveries. I’ve had some at over two months and from UK seems to be slowest but I am patient and to date everything has finally made it.
