    Hello folks,

I finally got around to fettling my Handi Kero-Pet lantern. The lantern came to me in pretty good shape which is unusual. I just cleaned it up a bit. I replaced the filler cap washer and the NRV Pip. The pump leather just needed to be oiled. Also replaced the mantle. The hood is in very good shape with only some minor chips and scratches.

This lantern runs pretty darn good. As with all of my lanterns I use an Amish mix.

The found is in very good condition.

The brass label is still readable but with the poor light it is a bit harder to read.

The lever control for the pricker is very interesting but works very well indeed.

    This lantern is bright.

I'm very pleased with this lantern.

    Cheers,

    Norman

I see there’s a Handi for sale in the forum’s Trading Post. They’re a great little lantern.

Hi @Norman , I've just got one with the same fuel cap, I thought it must have been a replacement of some kind. Any idea of the year of yours?

Well Norman's KeroPet is from the years up to 1976. From the label and the filler cap it would be the last years of that timeframe. Can you take a photo of the label on yours and how the burner tripod is mounted to the cage base. That will help date yours.

Hi @Nils Stephenson thanks for the info! Here's the pics. It leaked like a sieve at first so new pip and the valve stem I removed the fiber washers, the only thing I had in hand was small diameter graphite packing for my 249 Coleman which worked a treat! Could I just have used fiber tap washers or are they special ones?

Well the frame is the second last variant but the label and filler cap are the last so it must be pretty close to the changeover year of 1976. I can see we don't have an example of the last variant on the forum, but it had rather rough cylindrical attachments to the base plate instead of the hex pieces on yours.
