    I used to get them at local auctions, but the last auction room closed a few years ago, but sometimes a lamp or two will come my way, the word gets around in a small place.

    It's currently very quiet which is why I fettled the ones which are shown in this topic.

    Ahh ok,

    auction houses. I have never explored that opportunity. Perhaps another source of raw fettling material down here too. I’ll look into it!

    That's a good idea, scrapyards and recycling centres may also be worth checking out.

    I love the PL and the R1 as well, you have done a wonderful job, nothing like bringing a Tilley lamp back to life.

    These two images show my latest fettling project, I did not have a Tilley pl., hood, so it's built with what I had, fettling projects are in short supply these days, this Tilley was used in a local croft house for decades.

    Thanks Martin and I only had to give the lantern a clean and I wired the fuel feed pipe a few times and I fitted a pump and control cock which I had already fettled to working order and I was pleased to see that the pressure indicator worked, when I got this lantern it did not have a vapouriser or anything else above the control cock.

    Well that PL53 sure looks interesting to me, it's amazing the things we as humans can come up with.
    Does it now become a Frankie?

    @JEFF JOHNSON

    That’s a proper crofters lamp now, making do and mending with what you have to hand!
