I am a newbie and have decided to fettle a brass mid 40s Vapalux 300 that I have had tucked away for over 25 years. Sadly the heat deflector is missing (as is the original glass) and the previous owner stripped all coating off the brass except for the bottom of the fount which is now a pale-ish grey (original or faded?).
My question is....can anyone please tell me what current suitable aerosol paint colour is a close match for the original Rapidal Grey?
I note that one person on this forum used BS381c RAF Blue/Grey but it seems much darker than the paint on the bottom of my lamp.
    Any suggestions gratefully received.

    Many thanks Gary, useful info.
Was the original paint gloss, semi-gloss/satin or matt?

I think the original paint on these lamp is more like a satin finish, but given the age it’s difficult to judge how much the paint has aged and faded. The Fosco RAF paint is a Matt finish, so I then use the gloss lacquer to bring the sheen level up. Some people use a petrol resistant lacquer, but just check whatever paint you use that they are compatible with each other.
