    Hi all, after reading a few threads here Ive got what I believe is an early 3/300. 50s maybe? It's got the lockable pump and it came with a mica globe ( advertised as plastic haha) replaced the pip and cleaned out the old stinky fuel and cleaned up the gen and mesh ( vinegar soak and heat/dunk). It's got a spare globe for a 200a on, and it runs great! Fount is non magnetic

    Maybe not. It could be from 1949. :) From the available patent dates, it should be between 1948 and 1952. As it's the first version of the 3/300 and there is another version before 1952, it's probably from the beginning of that period.

    There have been a few Austramax lamps of roughly this period with mica globes like that so it is possible it was a factory option. I don't know of any paperwork from before 1952 (apart from newspaper ads) so it's not possible to confirm.

    @Brian Reynolds ,
    Your lantern is very cool, I’ve come across them with the mica globe, I thought it may have been an optional buy as back in the day a broken globe would have had a cost, the mica is more durable and with ever day use better suited a bit of ruff and tumble
