Looks fantastic and gives off excellent light.
I see you changed the hood did you also change the bail as well?

I only changed the hood. I don´t know what the "bail" is, but the rest of the lamp is polished or sanded by hand.

The bail is the cage or wire that holds the globe.

Thanks. I sanded it by hand, using 180 paper. Took a while. :-)

    Looks fantastic mate.
The reason why I asked about the hood is because it's the later version.
The hood you had on the first photo is the correct one for that early lamp.
If I am wrong someone will say so.

That’s possible. I am thinking of enamelling The original one.

How bad is the original one?
It looks OK in the photo.

The original one is quite damaged, and i sanded it down and spray- painted it with heat- resistant paint, but dull black, not shiny. A162D7F5-25CA-43DC-A740-D7FD034C1268.jpeg

    Hmm bugger.
That paint will come off when you light it, as there is so far no paint that can handle the heat, so many people have tried and failed.

I painted the head of an old Optimus with heat-resistant paint. It is used frequently and the paint is still fine.

I used heat resistant paint, and it can withstand the heat, but it´s dull, it should be shiny.
