Hello all you lovely lamp lovers, I have been restoring and collecting lamps for a few years now, mainly Tilley as it is the lamp of my childhood and have a special place, but a few Bialaddins and Vapaluxes and even a Coleman have also passed my hands. My love stems from memories of beach fishing on the East Coast of the UK on holiday at Dungeness with my mum and dad. We used to stay in rickity a shed built over an old railway carraige and had no power so Tilleys were there way there. I have my nans two x246a's, the original one's from those days, and I have since acquired many more in varying states of restoration as time allows. My aim, to keep these beautiful pieces of main tainable engineering going and inspire others to love well built maintainable servicable engineering. I attach a couple of pics of some of the collection in varying states of restoration, but will add some more detail later when I have a bit more time to hand. I Have just acquired a few more table lamps I am in the process of finding spares for. I have been reading the forum for a year or so, but only just plucked up the courage to interact so be gentle, lovely to finally meet you all!
Welcome and a nice collection, there is plenty of knowable people here that will help you out, don't be afraid to ask any questions.
Hello and Welcome! Great lamps and lanterns Lovely to have ones that have been used by your family and those holiday memories are quite evocative.. salt, shingle, Sun and paraffin
Hello Podbros, ahhhh the sound of the sea on shingle with the gentle hiss of a lamp.... its the stuff dreams are made of
You forgot to add "With a large glass of Sheep Dip!". (This could well confuse the bejeezus out of some members) so to explain: Ian Macleod Distillers
Hi Cornish What a wonderful lot of lamps . You will find lots of help on here and ways round fettling problems . Happy fettling .
It looks like the collecting bug has bitten deeply already, welcome to the forum from another beach angler.
Welcome to the forum @CornishLampLass from an Aberdeenshire lamp quine. Nice collection you have there, lots to keep you busy. Plenty of help here, don’t be shy about asking.
Hello @Jean J, thank you, still getting to grips with the different areas of the forum! Thank you. It's a slow ticking hobby as presently doing a degree alongside full time work so not alot of spare time!
Greetings and what a nice collection you have already. Looks like you also have a few projects sitting there too. Love the display of the variety of colours in the Tilley founts. Iain (with ancestors from The Lizard)
Hello Iain @Sedgman, yes i have a fair variety of lamps . I have found in recent months as people see the pile of lamps that new projects are finding me, rather than me searching for them hence i am a bit behind with my work on them I live very near your ancestors and often work that patch!
@CornishLampLass Welcome from Queensland Australia. I do like your collection of lanterns and lamps. The only dumb question is the one you don’t ask. I’m looking forward to reading your future posts. Cheers Pete
That's a grand collection you've got with some lovely examples. I see you have a number of spares which is extremely wise.
