    Evening All,

Hope everyone is well. Thought I'd post this up on the forum. The pressure lamp is ideal for camping and fishing, but needed something to transport safely without the inevitable spillage and mantle damage. Decided to make this cedar slat carry case from some offcut timber, found some polystyrene corner packers which work perfectly for the spacer and can carry using the lamp carry handle. Am I right in thinking you can source original spec timber carry boxes for some lamps?

    Jim

Very well made Jim. I only know of Coleman stowage boxes, steel, latterly plastic.

There are wooden transport boxes for Petromax lanterns on the Bay of Evil.

    Cheers

@Henry Plews You evidently keep an eye on the market Henry, but you (nor I) would fortunately not have had to pay remotely that price for a not-so-rare lantern.

    See you at Newark?

These three were made with Coleman 236 Major 1-49. The bubble wrap works great. Cameo

There were cheaper examples but the listing I linked to had the best images of the box (transportkiste).

@presscall barring unforseen cicumstances, we intend to be at Newark.

I like a wooden box for a lantern. I made one recently as I take a few to living history events to light camp up without batteries etc. When I was a cub helper a few years ago we cleared out a storage shed with various now unusable paraffin items therein. In the "Corona" pop bottle crate came a Coleman 201. Used for many years until Vapalux and Bialaddin entered my life! The crate is very useful, from the 1950's I think. Sorry if some of the images are duplicated, not sure why!!! IMG-20220401-WA0002.jpg IMG-20220401-WA0002.jpg IMG-20220401-WA0008.jpg 20220311_224446.jpg IMG-20220401-WA0008.jpg
