Not the most exciting lamp in the world, or the brightest, but nice and compact and at £10.50 with a priming bottle and eight mantles it'll be a useful working lamp. Pretty much as it came. Most of the paint was missing from the filler cap, so I removed the remainder and gave it a polish along with the top nut. Only thing I'm not sure about is the little clip on the burner assembly by the spirit cup. Is it to hold the spirit cup in position? If so, does it go above the cup to stop it sliding up the generator or below to support the cup in the required position on the generator? Regards, Terry.
Is that a replacement spirit cup, Terry? I think you have the clip correct though - from memory, it stops the cup sliding up and destroying the mantle(s) should the lantern be put on it's side or inverted...
Hi David, The spirit cup is the one that came to me with the lamp. Looks a little rough around the top edge, but I assume it is the original as they are not easy to loose (unlike the Tilley clip-on). Your explanation of the clip sounds right - I couldn't see why you would need the cup higher up the generator. Terry
