I would really appreciate it someone could help with a query on a lantern..
Does anyone know if the E41 had a plated cage or hood assembly as per the pics ??

Inspired by the recent find by @WimVe I started to dismantle my lamp but it’s raising some questions/puzzles?

The Hood has brass showing through in places? I’m really puzzled as I thought these were painted?
    (Help!!)
    Thanks in advance,
    pB

    Just guessing:
If made for the military it is possible that they started with a plated version and ended with a painted version. Simply due to costs or demands.
That is: if plating was more expensive then painting the lanterns. With paint you could also simply change from navy grey to army green ;-)

    Thanks Wim

Perhaps that’s all it is ? It would be nice to know something …?

First of all I thought it was off a later model but it has the earlier space for the needle control..?

    regards,

I restored one last year. It was marked 1941 and the cage was painted.
