    I don't really need any more Guardsmen lanterns but this one dropped into my lap for very little money so I couldn't refuse, could I!

    New washers, frame respray to stop the rust and a mantle. That's all it needed and away she went.

    The speculum has seen better days but after a clean and polish, i think it looks OK.

    I fitted a home-made pre-heater cup I made for it.

    The plating is badly pockmarked but it doesn't notice that badly.

    Good work, when the plating is bad I leave it as a reliable lamp showing its age but one I polished back to brass.
    I soak the burner in vinegar and often find that clay looking substance the bugs leave.hone the pump.change the seals and it burns well without a mantle.
