    Hello guys new here.

I need to know the best way to clean out petromax, optimus brass tanks.

There is a dark hard film on the inside bottom and want it out.

What chemical to soften it? and use nuts in the tank to scrub? Heard ospho in the boating community.

    thanks in advance!

    Hello,

    Welcome to the forum.

I believe the film you refer to is old dried out kerosene/paraffin and possibly the mold like substance that can develop in it over time.

I had an Aida that showed up with this same film in it so I soaked it for a day in denatured alcohol and it cleaned right up.

Acetone, just slosh some around inside, need gloves though!
