    Gentlemen,
I am seeking some basic advice on this new passtime.
Have taken the plunge into "Don't go into the light!" lamps after having a thoroughly good time with stoves, I scored, or rather blew my money on this motley pair. Just need some assistance in locating any model numbers or names for these.

These may be suitible for the boneyard but may be canned for parts.

I can only determine the one on the left is an Aidia Express, while the other is a Petromax Rapid.
The corrosion is so thick as to resemble drywall texture and equally as thick. The ID plate on the Aida is obliterated to be unreadable and the Petromax ID plate is missing entirely. How would I determine if the Aida is a 500CP or not? Where would the model number be found on the Petromax? Any help or suggestions is appreciated.

    Hello and welcome aboard!

Those lanterns are both well made and should restore to good working order.

The 500cp vapouriser is longer than the others, so compare the length of the 2 vapourisers.

The links below show the pages of this website which are relevant to your lamps, Jeff.

Welcome to the forum. There are quite a few here that collect both lamps and stoves.

That's new to me. I always thought that the Petromax 350 and 500 cp versions were basically identical except for the jet and needle. At least that's the way it is on the swedish lamps of Petromax design.

Anyway, both lanterns should restore well to working order but unfortunately I can't help with model numbers. Hopefully someone with more knowledge of these brands will come along shortly.

Thank you Wim, Nils , Jeff; (Would have made the jump much sooner... :? ) The advice offered to me here is priceless and very much appreciated! :) :content: :) :content: I will do more fettling of these in the coming weeks but have only managed to wash out the green goo left inside the Petromax. 3x wash and soak with some mineral spirits has done the trick. Will need a new NRV, globe and mantles. Seems as the Aida is more complete and may be more accomodating to repair. Just the strange way things go, purchased two brass torches from an old farmer yesterday for less than the price of a light lunch. More fettling to do!

Hello Nils, my reference to the 500cp,. vapouriser being longer, is based on the Anchor lanterns which I have scrapped, Jeff.
