Good day all, I recently picked up this Sun Light at an auction. Received in fairly good condition. I checked for leaks and blockage, all was well. I fired it off with Coleman fuel and got a nice full flower of flame. I wasn't overly impressed with the brightness it put out, got a feeling the octane in Coleman is not what use to be? Any of you familiar with this peace and could shed some information? Thank you all so very much.
Hi intosteam i have seen simular lamps here in the UK,which were called flare lamps they were used in the early part of the 1900's to light market stalls and fair stalls, the ones here were usualy fueled on paraffin/kerosene and were known as paraffin flares, the burner was gravity fed and the flame was a large flickering flame these were not fitted with a mantle
Thank you. I was surprised they didn't supply more light. I would think Coleman fuel would burn brighter than kerosene or perhaps I should give kerosene a try?
