Having finally got my hands on a Coleman burner to fit onto the fount, I was a very happy camper! All I needed was to check everything, fit a new filler cap washer and check for leaks... or so I thought. A thing of beauty isn't it... well, thats what I thought until I tried to polish a scratch off the tank... turns out its not a scratch at all, its a stress fracture that starts from the dent. Arrrggghhh! I've considered various options like sealing the tank with epoxy or caswells but given the dent and the damage to the area round the filler cap I just don't think its a good use of resources.
I've got a Nagel Chase fount (that's where the burner came from originally) so I might put it back on that and finish that lamp instead

That's a real bummer mate, she was starting to look great. The same thing happened to me with a Kayen lamp except my one leaked, she seemed to be in excellent condition too, mine even had the 2 original Kayen stickers. Now she is in the roof out of my sight.
Hi Colin, @ColinG difficult to see on a photo but to my eyes it looks like a deep scratch rather than a crack. Have you pressure-tested the fount?
